Very sad news

Last week was really tough for us. We lost our referral.
It happened last week but I did not feel like writing about it. We always knew this could happen, unfortunately this is the second time it has happened to us. We were told a Russian family is in the process of filling out paperwork to adopt her. More than anything I am most upset about the 6 months that have gone by since the referral was given to us. What a waste of time! Our region Stavropol has become more and more difficult since the news of the Colorado couple abusing their children this summer. They are doing everything they can to place the children with Russian families. I hope that a good family is adopting her, she is an amazing little girl. I know our agency is working hard for us right now, they feel really bad. We are just trying to regroup and move forward and hope for a new referral soon. However, because of the problems in the region our agency is thinking about moving us to Vladivostok rather than staying in Stavropol. Ursula

  1. (((Ursula))) I'm so so sorry and heart-broken for you. This should not be allowed to happen. Once we meet a child no other families should be able to adopt them. That is originally how I thought Russia was and was so saddened to realize that is not the case. I wish you and Nick much healing and can only hope you find peace.

  3. we are sorry to hear that as well. Vladivostok would be a wonderful region for you (as we sit here in Vlad writing this). We hope that everything works out for you....remain strong and positive and know that you have a lot of people that care for you and are supporting you in this.

  5. So sorry to read this sad news. We also lost our referral, 12 weeks after meeting them. A second referral, for siblings, came quickly and the process to adopt them was really smooth. Even though we got there in the end, the pain of losing a referral that we had already meet and made concrete plans for was like very very difficult and I don't think I will ever forget them.

  6. So very sorry for your loss. We too, lost 2 referrals before successfully adopting our daughter. None of that helps you, tho, as you grieve her and come to grips with the lost time and effort. We adopted from Khabarovsk, north of Vlad. Great region, nice folks. As far as we have heard, adoptions in the Far East are going well despite the Hanson and Colorado situations. Our thoughts and prayer are with you!

  7. I don't even know what to say...except I am so sorry this has happened. God's timing is perfect and He knows YOUR pain and He also knows the child who is meant to be YOURS...Hugs to you from miles away...I will be praying for you.

  8. I'm so sorry, Ursula. Like Maggie and Corinne wrote, Vladivostok region is moving and could be a good option for you. We just left from our first trip to Vlad and received our referral fairly fast. Just know that all happens for a reason and you will get your forever child.

  9. Ursula - the agency I'm working with has two little boys (1 and 3) that are siblings they are looking to place. I'm not sure where in Russia but if you're interested, let me know or contact Terri below:

    From Rainbow Kids website:

We are looking for a family who wants to adopt siblings. These beautiful boys are 14 months and 37 months. One boy has crystal clear blue eyes with blonde hair and his brother has beautiful brown eyes and light brown hair.

The boys do not have any health issues are physically very handsome.

    They are not hyperactive.

This is an international adoption. Travel is required.

We are looking for a family who is homestudy ready and can travel in December to meet the boys.

Please email theresa@graceinternationaladoptionagency for additional information.

    Thank you.

  12. I am so sad & frustrated for you... like so many others we too lost a referral, but had not traveled yet to meet her. Your pain must be enormous. I truly hope you receive another referral quickly. Of course I'd love to see you adopt from Vlad ~ it is a wonderful region. Does your agency have any visibility as to when you might receive another referral if you switch regions? Ursula hang in there ~ it will happen!

  13. I cannot imagine what you are going through, and how rough it is on you all. I will be praying that God would open up the window and present the right opportunity. I believe that there is a child out there for you. He /she may not be born yet, but there is one out there, that God already marked just for you. Have faith. It will happen. Be strong.
